A Little History

In 1953, Charles Austin decided to venture into the business world and with his wife, Gwen, opened the "original" Original Austin's grocery store on the corner of 9th St. and Ridge Road in Green Bay. Not soon after, the road in front of our store was ripped up and widened to accommodate the new "City Stadium" home of the Packers.

With no previous experience in the grocery business, "Chuck", never-the-less recognized what customers will come back for in any retail store: Cleanliness & Friendliness. This simple concept continues today. Chuck's sons Bob, Rick, and Steve Austin along with seven of the grandchildren show the care and hands on approach that only a family owned business can deliver.
